Don’t scratch your balls at home this weekend, here are 3 reasons why you need to head to FBi SMAC Festival

Breathe it in. You know what that is? It’s the fresh air of a new year. And what better way to celebrate than with a festival dedicated to the best upcoming talent to call Sydney home? FBi Radio’s SMAC Festival is looming in the near future, set to go down this Sunday January 10 at Carriageworks. FBi have always been purveyors of cool shit, (possible new slogan guys, just putting that out there) so of course they’ve managed to put together a festival that makes us wet our pants with delight in a fashion similar to when a woman meets a shirtless Ryan Gosling.

FBi SMAC Festival 2016

The new year is upon us, and what better way to welcome 2016 than with a kickass festival. Dedicated to the best music, art and grub that Sydney has to offer, the FBi SMAC Festival is set to be a monster of a good time.

The best live music

Have you seen this lineup? Frothing doesn’t even begin to cover how you should feel about this host of artists set to take the stage on January 10. Wave Racer, Hockey Dad, Montaigne, Cosmo’s Midnight, Palms, Shining Bird, Sampa The Great and many, many more will be taking the stage to deliver what will be a memorable evening of tunes. Be sure to head to the festival lineup page on FBi for the full details. Chances are if you’re heading to the festival you’re an avid listener of the station, so you’ll know plenty of their tracks. And even if you aren’t, as a music fan be sure to get your ass down to Carriageworks anyway. These artists are the best and brightest hand picked by FBi so if you pride yourself on the ability to stay ahead of the curve then where better to do so than here?

For a love of the visual arts

The motto for the SMAC Festival is to celebrate the best of Sydney’s talent and undiscovered gems. That isn’t limited to music either, as all of you who listen to the station know that the good folk at FBi dedicate a hefty amount of time to giving a spotlight to a tonne of local art projects. On hand at the festival will be the likes of Bhenji Ra, an installation artist who specialises in dance. Or you can catch Hissy Fit, the all-girl collective exploring female identity through visceral punk rock choreography. Plus there’s plenty more to behold from David Capra, Lewis Doherty, Michaela and Claudia Gleave and Rosie Deacon taking part too.

There’s so much food for you to Instagram

After taking in all that music and art will take a lot of energy, so why not refuel with some killer eats? First off you can be treated to some fine Italian delicacies served up by the one and only Donny Benet. Donny will be serving up his traditional Italian barbecue Molto Benet. Yeesh, what can’t this guy do? In addition to Donny’s spread there will also be some tasty treats from the Monster Rolls Food Truck, Brickfields and Fella.
