Happy Birthday Woodstock! Santana confirmed for anniversary festival on original location

Santana is officially the first artist confirmed for the 50th anniversary of Woodstock taking place on the original site.

The Bethel Woods Music and Culture Festival is set to take over the Bethel Woods Centre of the Arts from the 16th-18th of August this year in commemoration of the iconic 1969 festival.

Santana’s performance at Woodstock skyrocketed their career, making them a household name for 60s and 70s music.

The festival’s 50th anniversary also lines up with the 20th anniversary of album Supernatural, which included the song Smooth, featuring Rob Thomas.

“Woodstock and Supernatural took me to places I never dreamed were possible,” Carlos Santana said. “I embraced those incredible moments in my life with all my heart.”

In honour of the 20th anniversary of the album, Sanatana is also embarking on a North American tour with The Doobie Brothers. The tour promises to be both a nostalgic celebration of their best known songs, as well as a chance to introduce some newer tracks.

With the upcoming release of new EP, In Search of Mona Lisa, and a new album coming later in the year, the tour is an opportunity for Santana and their fans to celebrate Woodstock, Supernatural and newer periods of his career.
