The Belligerents get experimental for new single Before, I Am and announce east coast tour

After recently stepping off a summer tour, Brissie band The Belligerents have announced yet another headline tour in support of their brand new single Before, I Am.

Psych

Following the success of their debut EP Outside:Inside, which featured singles In My Way and Voices, the new single is taken from their upcoming full-length debut album.

Before, I Am boasts their unique experimental psych rock, with the band’s bass player and producer Konstantin Kersting explained “Before, I Am is different from previous releases in the sense that we recorded in a totally different location which wasn’t a ‘real’ recording studio. That gave us the freedom to experiment with some different and unusual sounds and really push ourselves to explore new ground, both in terms of production and songwriting.”

On the upcoming album, Kersting also explained “To record the album we set up a studio in a big farm house on Stradbroke Island. We hired and borrowed a heap of gear to make it work and it actually turned out to be the most fun recording session we’ve ever been a part of. We spent a total of two weeks there and walked away with a pretty much finished full-length album.”

To celebrate the new release, The Belligerents will be hitting the road for an east coast tour which will kick off on Thursday April 28 in Adelaide following sets at Hills Are Alive and The Gum Ball festivals.
