In the Coventry area of England in 1979, the British ska revival was being supercharged by a man called Jeremy Dammer and his DIY label called 2 Tone.
The label was largely a bedroom operation, yet on its bill sat pretty much every new British ska band at the time: The Specials, Madness, Selecter, and even a young Elvis Costello.
In the summer of 1979, these bands reigned king in the UK; ska was all over the charts, The Specials were in the top ten and touring like crazy alongside label mates Bodysnatchers. It was a short, sweet summer of glory for ska and like all great musical movements, photographers were there to document the whole thing.
