Miss The Sinking Teeth playing a show in your hometown? Enhance your FOMO to critical levels with part 1 of their Aussie tour diary

The Sinking Teeth are absolute leaders in the vicious, unstoppable charge of punk rock in Australia. They’ve been kicking around the scene for a while, but their latest record Songs from the Bottom of the Lake has only gone to shoot the rockers to the stars.

Recently they knocked off a huge east coast tour, and unlike most bands around they had a major advantage – their guitarist Nick Manuell is a professional photographer. Catch the first part of their shiny tour diary here, a glorious mix of aesthetically pleasing digital and film photography, complete with some killer stories to tell.

18.11.16 Melbourne, Vic.

It seems like we are forever running late for flights. In the past we’ve missed several flights, forgotten gear, forgotten parts of the hire car… the list goes on. This particular time we had forgotten to book in any of our luggage which is a massive problem. Fortunately on this flight we were flying with Virgin Aus and they really take care of artists so they helped us out.

Load in beers with the guys from H A Z E at The Edinburgh Castle.

Another thing we tend to do if show up to a city without any accommodation sorted. Sometimes this works out and sometimes it doesn’t. This time we scored a tiny prison cell at a backpackers around the corner from the venue. No windows. No worries.

H A Z E, Swan Ronson (left) and Pemberton (right) were sharing the Ed Castle bill with us. All rad Adelaide bands worth checking out.

Feeling shady.

19.11.16 Brisbane QLD.

Landed, picked up hire car and drove to Southbank to swim in “The River Of Children’s Piss” or “Streets Beach” depending on who you are talking to.

19.11.16 Crowbar Fortitude Valley QLD.

After quickly meeting up with our QLD fam we headed to Crowbar and watched Masochist and Ghost Audio. Crowbar was a fun show and it was great to see so many of our mates there.

19.11.16 Crowbar Fortitude Valley QLD.

This was the first of three shows with Shutup Shutup Shutup (formerly Release The Hounds). These guys are great friends of ours which made all the shows ten times more fun.

20.11.16 Graceville, QLD.

After ten million beers we crashed at our mates Churv and Lexi’s place. They are the number one example of Brisbane hospitality. Easily two of the best people on the face of the earth.

862km drive to Frankie’s Pizza in Sydney. The only way to get through it is by watching Julz suck a banana like a lollipop.

Ado and I spent the majority of the time trying to find some cheap accomodation in Sydney. Everything was booked out because of the Crowded House concert that was happening at the Opera House.

23.11.16 Bondi Junction, NSW.

Advice to anyone planning a trip to Sydney: Only stay at The Cock N’ Bull in Bondi Junction if you really really really have to. The upside is you get a free pint of Bulmers for every day you stay and if the place burns down with your gear inside then maybe you’ll get a sweet travel insurance payout.

We stayed in this lush 47 bed dorm with built in power board centipede consisting of 13 power boards and 12 hair straighteners which are all left on all the time for your straight hair convenience.

frankies

23.11.16 Frankies Pizza, Sydney, NSW.

Frankies Pizza fucking rules. We’ve played in Sydney a lot but we have never played at Frankie’s and we’ve always wanted to. It 100% lived up to the hype. Everyone there is a fucking legend and the pizzas are amazing. We played with this rad Sydney band called Bone’s Atlas.

bondibeach

24.11.16 Bondi Beach, NSW.

One of the 47 Irish guys that were staying in our room told us that we should avoid using the one shower at The Cock N Bull so instead we decided to go to the beach of a proper traveller shower.

We gave our mate Azim (from Azim Zain and His Lovely Bones and Elk Locker) a lift from Sydney to Canberra for the show at The Basement.
