PREMIERE: Enter the surreal universe of The Gaze’s new video for Selfish Love

It was back in September that we premiered Karaoke; the debut video from Melbourne based artist The Gaze (real name Sam Cremean). With the video’s release, we were immediately immersed in his dark and shimmering pop sounds.

Now, Cremean has re-introduced himself by unveiling his incredibly cinematic new video for Selfish Love. It should go without saying that we’re stoked to be premiering it for you today.

With the release of his video for Selfish Love, Melbourne based artist The Gaze delivers a surreal and captivating slice of dark, R&B-laden pop.

Throughout the new track, The Gaze melds elements of pop and R&B to craft a sound that will seep into your bones and stay there for weeks. His music is powerful and seductive; a sultry blend of sounds that feel simultaneously raw and polished.

The track’s new video is the perfect visual accompaniment. Directed by Emily Dynes, the clip flaunts some stunning videography. With moody, neon-coloured visuals, Dynes has created an immersive universe within the video’s three-and-a-half minute duration.

Selfish Love was a personal and difficult piece for me to write about social media and the toxic aspects of gay youth culture, yet Emily transformed this into a beautiful and elegant piece of storytelling,” Cremean says of the video.
