PREMIERE: Birdsville return with their blistering new single Sleep

Late last year, when Wollongong based three-piece (par one member) Birdsville dropped their debut single No Reaction, we were immediately on board with their blistering alt-punk sounds. We’ve been waiting patiently for more ever since, and today they have mercifully delivered.

Sleep is the ripping second single from the band, and as expected, it’s hard-hitting, dark, and filled with addictive alt-rock melodies. It should go without saying that we’re stoked to be premiering it for you today.

Wollongong trio Birdsville are back with Sleep; another slice of brutal alt-punk that feels simultaneously hypnotic and hard-hitting.

While No Reaction was driven by pulsating rhythms and pounding gang vocals, Sleep employs a sort of droning effect – the perfect sonic representation for the track’s themes. With sustained vocal hooks and all-consuming guitar lines, the track will blanket your body.

Although Sleep sees Birdsville travel in a slightly different sonic direction, it still sits strongly beside their previous material. In a short amount of time, the band have built a steady sound for themselves, and we can’t wait to hear what they deliver next.

The tracks new video, created by Paul Mitchell Kelly, is the perfect visual accompaniment. A Tron-style collage of images, the clip accentuates the track’s surreal, dream-like ideas.
