Got a spare $200,000? Make a bid on George Harrison’s first ever electric guitar

On May 19th, the first ever electric guitar owned by Beatles guitarist George Harrison will be going up for auction with an expected value of USD $200,000 – $300,000.

The Hofner Club 40 will be auctioned off by auctioneers Julien’s, who say Harrison played the guitar with The Beatles around Liverpool, back when they were known as The Quarrymen.

It’s time crack open your piggy bank and make a bid on George Harrison’s first ever electric guitar. It’ll only cost you a mere $200,000. No worries.

Harrison traded his acoustic guitar for the electric model with Ray Ennis, who was a member of the Swinging Blue Jeans. Harrison donated it to a band competition in 1965 and it was won by a member of a German band who died in 2017. His widow is putting it up for auction,” say the auctioneers.

A 1965 Fender Telecaster previously owned by The Band’s Robbie Robertson and played by Harrison, Eric Clapton and Bob Dylan will also be up for auction, and is estimated to go for somewhere between $400,000 and $600,000.

So go on, make a bid… who needs savings anyway?
