Woodstock’s 50th Anniversary will be hosted in the same venue Jimi Hendrix played in 1969

If you wanted to summon the spirit of a long-gone hippie movement which augmented the trajectory of our culture, you’d go to the exact same place Woodstock originally went down and dance in the mud for three days.

This is the 50th anniversary of Woodstock. It will be held on the green green grass of Bethel Woods, which hosted Jimi Hendrix, The Who, Janis Joplin, Grateful Dead and Sly back in 1969.

The 50th Anniversary of Woodstock will be held in Bethel Woods, New York, the same venue that hosted the iconic festival back in 1969.

Marketed as “three days of peace and music”, Woodstock 1969 took place from August 15-18 to a crowd of about 400,000. It marked the beginning of the music festival scene we are familiar with it today. They wanted to change the world through music.

On August 16-19 2019, Woodstock’s 50th Anniversary festival will not just be about live music from many genres and eras. It will also include TED-style talks from futurists and retro-tech experts and other special events.

Organisers will encourage festival-goers to visit the Museum at Bethel Woods, with a special exhibit We Are Golden: Reflections on the 50th Anniversary of the Woodstock Festival and Aspirations for an Aquarian Future taking place.

On this huge field, hopefully there is still room to celebrate peace and love in 2019, the way they did so long ago.
