Pornhub are not only the biggest porn site in the world. They’re also master data collectors and infographic creators, turning their site stats into super entertaining articles about the world’s weird and wonderful online pornographic activity.
The site’s latest insights article explores The Golden Age of Porn – between 1969 to 1984 – and the stats on “vintage” porn consumption from users.
Pornhub have teamed up with Men’s Health to explore stats on the The Golden Age of Porn in the 70s and 80s.
Unsurprisingly, they found that the popularity of vintage porn increases by age group, with millennials under the age of 35 being 50% less likely to watch classic videos. Conversely, visitors over the age of 55 are over 50% more likely to view vintage porn – perhaps looking for a little dose of nostalgia?
The stats show that men are proportionately 36% more likely to view vintage porn compared to women. They also found that the 80s are the most searched for decade, with the 90s being the second most popular (but with only half the volume of the 80s) and the 70s coming in third.
The most popular related search term is “vintage” followed by “vintage taboo” and “retro”. Many vintage-related searches contain countries like German, Italian, French and Swedish.
Lastly the most popular porn star from the 70s and 80s is Nina Hartley, who recently partnered with Pornhub in an educational campaign to help seniors learn more about safe sex. She’s joined by such household porn stars as Kay Parker Peter North and old mate, Ron Jeremy.
