What is St. Kilda Festival?

Since its inception in 1980, St. Kilda Festival has become one of the nation’s biggest celebrations of community spirit and live music. Every year, hundreds of thousands of people gather on the picturesque St. Kilda foreshore for a huge day of good times.

Truthfully, it’s one of my favourite days of the year… and I can’t bloody wait for the festival’s 2019 instalment.

With seven stages of great live music, markets, workshops, carnival rides and more, St. Kilda Festival is one of the best days you’ll have in 2019.

Last year, attendees of the festival were treated to live performances from a catalogue of the country’s best acts. Tkay Maidza, Baker Boy, The Jezabels, Maddy Jane and Didirri all layed down sets, as well as a stack of great emerging Aussie talent.

With live music spread across seven stages, St. Kilda Festival is the ideal destination for new music discovery. The festival’s 2019 program will be unveiled in January, and considering their track record, I think we can safely expect big things.

One of the stages flaunting great tunes at the festival will be the New Music Stage. On this stage, ten of the country’s most exciting emerging acts will battle it out for the vote of the audience. The winner will take home $5000 cash and an invitation to play the main stage at the 40th St Kilda Festival in 2020.

On top of all this live music, the festival also hosts a variety of workshops, kids’ entertainment, sport, dance, carnival rides, food and drinks, markets, shopping and a whole lot more.

Take my word for it, St. Kilda Festival is one hell of a good time. If you’re not already considering heading along, you may want to reconsider things.

Grab all the info you need over at the festival website. I’ll see you there.

St. Kilda Festival will take place on February 10th, 2019.
