Watch Kurt Vile and Courtney Barnett show off their guitar chops with Matt Sweeney

If you haven’t watched Vice’s Guitar Moves segment, we recommend jumping over here and checking it out. The show is hosted by Matt Sweeney (guitarist for Iggy Pop amongst a slew of other distinctions) and features guest guitarists – everyone from Albert Hammond Jr to Keith Richards – telling stories and showing off their moves.

Kurt Courtney Guitar Moves

Watch Kurt Vile and Courtney Barnett tell stories about their guitar playing and show off their chops on the latest episode of Guitar Moves.

Sweeney’s latest guests were deadpan dream team Kurt Vile and Courtney Barnett, whose new collaborative record Lotta Sea Lice, we’ve been digging bit time in the Happy office.

The duo chat about how they got into guitar, their unique finger styles, and they share some advice to up-and-coming guitarists: “Just get in there and don’t be afraid,” Vile says. Where Barnett suggests that “the best things come from mistakes.”

Vile also explains how to play Continental Breakfast, the second single off Lotta Sea Lice, and Barnett breaks down the chord progression from Depreston off her 2015 debut LP, Sometimes I Sit and Think, Sometimes I Just Sit. Check it out below.
