Watch Kristen Stewart tear through LA in a ’65 Mustang for the new Rolling Stones single Ride ‘Em On Down

What year is it again? The Rolling Stones are back at it, having just released their 25th studio album Blue & Lonesome. It’s back-to-back with covers, but who can complain? The Stones are releasing music for the first time in over a decade and we’re lapping it up.

The first video clip from the new record features Kristen Stewart, also lonesome and smashing through the emptied streets of Los Angeles in a big, bad and blue 1965 Mustang. Would we really have it any other way?

The clip builds on it’s classic Stones feeling with a nod or two towards a mysterious backstory. LA is abandoned, gas is scarce and hillbillies are driving police cars. It’s as badass as it is surreal, and every second is absolute gold.

Ride ‘Em On Down gets away with supreme amounts of cheesiness, featuring LA, a classic Mustang and a rockabilly Kristen Stewart in a clip that is nothing if not The Rolling Stones in their purest form.

Apparently Stewart didn’t need a lot of convincing before she came on board for the clip:

“It didn’t take much more than a few words to get me amped on the idea. The Stones. A 65 Mustang. Alone in Los Angeles. And the shoot was just as dreamy as the idea”

“We tore LA apart in a day and we had one hell of a soundtrack.”

Ride ‘Em On Down was originally performed by Eddy Taylor, a perfect fit for Keith and the leathery fellas. Blue & Lonesome is out today.
