Vivid 2018, closed right: thanks for hitting up our Issue 8 Launch!

This Saturday gone by, we checked in to the Lady Hampshire once again to launch our latest print mag, the inaugural Photo Issue.

We were joined by a host of bands, DJs, creatives, and guests to mark the last night of Vivid Sydney in 2018, and the short of it is… it went down an absolute treat.

A big Happy thank you to everyone who rocked up to our Issue 8 Launch at Vivid 2018. Getting amongst a killer night of live music never felt better.

Our first photo issue was stacked on shelves, tables, and stools throughout the venue, while our pop-up exhibition The Parlour decorated a hallway. Projections provided by Yeah Nah Yeah twinkled across the bands and out the back, drenching the Lady Hampshire in their underwater vibes.

Kicking off the night was Aela Kae, adding in keys to her usual guitar-and-vocal setup. If you dug what you heard, expect to hear from her very soon!

Next up were Good Pash, who despite their earlier slot brought one hell of a party. SOOK soon followed, turning up the volume with their punkish anthologies.

As Owen from Straight Arrows helmed the decks in the beer garden, Sunscreen took up their perch onstage, charming the venue’s socks off with their jangly anthems. ZEAHORSE took things a different direction, bringing on the head-nods with their gnarly riffage and a frankly disgusting breakdown to close things off.

When Shining Bird took the stage, spirits where high. They played a longer set, hypnotising us with a three-minute saxophone solo, Dane’s chocolate-wrapped baritone, and a healthy amount of crowd interaction.

Check out what went on below, and be sure to head along to our next one: the Needle In The Hay Finalist’s Party at Oxford Art Factory on June 28th. Tickets are free – RSVP here.

If you missed out on your free copy of Issue 8 at the launch, you can still grab one online.

Thanks to Vivid Sydney for the party, Panhead Custom Ales and Young Henrys for the beers, Australian Centre for Photography for the pop-up exhibition, Yeah Nah Yeah for the projections, DJ Warehouse for the gear, and to The Lady Hampshire for the venue!
