Textile artist Victoria Villasana has a ‘yarn’ with some of history’s most famous icons

Victoria Villasana is a Mexican textile artist and the creative being responsible for theseĀ embroidered bursts of colour that dance across portraits of the most famous artists, musicians and politicians.

Using black and white photographs (and even a 5 pound note) with icons such as Frida Kahlo, the Queen and Marilyn Monroe, Villasana criss crosses every colour of the rainbow over the top of each image.

With highlights around the eyes, over clothing and jewellery, it doesn’t just stop there. Villasana’s works extend to the streets, crafting yarn bombs of all shapes and sizes from small stickers to large scale murals.

Check out Villasana’sĀ  Instagram here for a closer look at her coloured works.
