Last week, Chris Cornell was awarded a posthumous Grammy, awarding the late musician the Best Rock Performance award for his song When Bad Was Good. Vicky Cornell and the couple’s children, Toni and Christopher, walked the red carpet at the event in honour of the late singer.

The award was Cornell’s third Grammy, having been awarded two in 1995 with Soundgarden – Best Hard Rock Performance and Best Metal Performance.

Cornell founded Soundgarden with lead guitarist Kim Thayil in 1984, and was the band’s frontman until they broke up in 1997. In 2001, he formed Audioslave with then-former Rage Against the Machine members Tom Morello, Tim Commerford, and Brad Wilk.

In 2010, Soundgarden reformed, and Cornell toured with the band up until his death in 2017. Soundgarden’s single, Black Hole Sun, marked them as acclaimed pioneers of the grunge scene.
