VB Hard Yards finalists RACKETT are one of the country’s best live acts

When three of New South Wales’ best upcoming bands, Mini Skirt, RACKETT, and Shearin’ joined forces with Aussie pub legends Cosmic Psychos and descended upon the Lansdowne Hotel last November, we all knew chaos would ensue.

We were also all pretty sure that three epic sets were about to be played for the packed out room. We were correct.

Though they may have been bested in the VB Hard Yards comp, RACKETT continue to prove to everyone that they remain one of the country’s best live bands.

On the night, Byron Bay fellas Mini Skirt took out the Hard Yards championship, but RACKETT still managed to turn everybody’s heads. If you weren’t paying attention, you are now.

Having been influenced by the ‘Girl Power’ movement of the ’90s, particularly Spice Girls, the Northern Beaches four-piece have gathered a steady, dedicated, and perpetually growing fan base through their always spirited live show. And I’ll attest, it’s an experience.

With a string of insanely catchy singles and a debut EP under their belts, RACKETT are showing no signs of slowing down.

The EP Ready Or Not was fiery enough to earn them a finalist’s spot in our own Needle In The Hay competition, so to say we’re eager for the next release would be an understatement.

They absolutely crushed the Lansdowne at VB Hard Yards, and no doubt RACKETT are ready to continue taking their charismatic brand of garage pop-punk all across the country.

So congrats to RACKETT and Shearin’ for making the comp’s final cut, and of course to Mini Skirt for winning the whole damn thing.
