Ty Segall just released his fifth album of the year, but there’s a catch

Exhibition-goers were last week treated to a wonderful thirteen track surprise while attending Ty Segalls solo show Orange Rainbow  in Los Angeles.

Art openings are only fun when there’s unlimited free booze being handed out. They’re even better when there’s some kind of grazing table. But, they’re the best when there are very limited edition copies of Ty Segall’s fifth album of 2018 hanging around.

Fifty-five copies of Orange Rainbow, officially Segall’s fifth album of the year, were on sale at the opening for twenty-five bucks a piece.

According to an excited Reddit user, Orange Rainbow  was released on tape via Segall’s Drag City imprint God? Records. There is no news of an official release of the album, but fans should keep their ears and their eyes out for bootleg copies, YouTube clips or Discog re-sales until the album is available for the wider public.

Segall’s new covers album Fudge Sandwich is out this Friday (October 26). The first single from the album, a cover of Spencer Davis Group’s I’m A Man, is available for streaming below. Fudge Sandwich will also include covers of hits by Neil Young, Grateful Dead and John Lennon.

In January, Segall released Freedom’s Goblin, a solo album of original material. 2018 also saw the release of collaborative albums with White Fence and GØGGS, plus a super obscure tape EP that the singer released with his wife, Denee, and Emmett Kelly (of The Cairo Gang).

2018 isn’t over yet! Perhaps we’ll see a few more Segall released before the year is through.
