Thom Yorke has composed the soundtracks for quite a few films. Most recently he’s worked on the score for the remake of ’70s horror flick, Suspiria. He’s also written soundtracks for short films by fashion label Rag and Bone.
Recently he revealed to the BBC that he was offered to do the soundtrack for Fight Club too, but decided not to due to exhaustion after writing and recording OK Computer.
Thom Yorke reveals that he was personally asked to do the soundtrack for Fight Club by Edward Norton and Brad Pitt, but ended up turning it down.
While Radiohead ended up writing music for Fight Club author Chuck Palahniuk’s 2008 film, Choke, Yorke explained that he was too mentally drained to seriously consider the offer, despite being personally asked by Edward Norton and Brad Pitt.
“Things sort of come into my office, but they haven’t really got to me,” Yorke told BBC 6 Music. “The one I remember is one from years ago after we’d finished ‘OK Computer’ and I was completely gaga.”
“They asked me to do Fight Club. They sent me the script and Ed and Brad Pitt wrote to me and said ‘We really think you should do this’. I went ‘Nah, I can’t’. I couldn’t. I wouldn’t have been able to do it then, but every time I see the film I go ‘Oh…’.”

Speaking about doing the score at the Venice Film Festival, he said: “It was one of those moments in your life where you want to run away but you know you’ll regret it if you do. I watched the original film several times, and I loved it because it was of that time, an incredibly intense soundtrack”.
