This 78 minute clip of MTV from 1982 is the hardest hitting nostalgia you’ll see this year

By News

Remember when MTV was the bee’s knees? Back in the 80s and 90s, Music Television was the pinnacle of tastemaking, a global channel that carried weight, love and respect from every soul the programming reached.

It’s certainly something else today, and at the risk of bashing something which used to be awesome, we’ll just leave it at that.

Regardless of how you feel about the channel now, this random 78 minutes of programming from 1982 should help you remember the MTV that once was.

The ghost of MTV past: revel in the nostalgic, lo-fi glory of this 78 minute recording of MTV from way way back in 1982.

The Police, Stevie Nicks, Jimi Hendrix, Iron Maiden and way more appear during the programming, as well as a ton of old school segments like Bottom of the Hour Bumper and the Sunday Special.

You’ll be grinning ear to ear at some of the ads that play too. One proudly proclaims that the channel is broadcasting “in stereo!” , plus a Bud Light commercial around halfway in is as cheesy as it gets.

Not to mention their vintage spot of the astronauts carrying an MTV flag is in there. Ahhh, I had forgotten about that one.
