MusicNSW have dropped a golden nugget right into the laps of Australian musicians, and no one is complaining. These new arts grants aim to support young Aussie musicians by providing the funds for touring, conferences and events.
The first is titled The Opportunity Development Grant, and looks to provide artists with the resources to attend events and take on opportunities within the music industry which they would otherwise not be able to facilitate.
Artists from New South Wales looking for a leg up now have two new, awesome grants to apply for. Good on ya, MusicNSW.
In speaking of the new financial program MusicNSW Managing Director Emily Collins stated:
“The Opportunity Development Grant is for artists and managers wanting to make the most of an opportunity – be it going on a support tour, showcasing at an event or attending a conference…. sometimes artists are denied these opportunities because they simply don’t have the cash to afford it – which is where we come in! It’s just a great way for MusicNSW to support musicians trying to make the most of opportunities.”
The second grant stands as the AAA Grant, which targets venues and promoters looking to present more all ages events. The instalment is in conjunction with The City of Sydney, and will hopefully lead to more venues including under 18s in their festivals and gigs, opening the conversation for music lovers of all ages across the state.
“It’s a no-brainer that Sydney needs more all-ages gigs and we’re thrilled that City of Sydney and MusicNSW can support venues, promoters and artists to share the joy of live music with all-age audiences.”
Both grants are open for applications, with The Opportunity Development Grant closing on the 6th of October and AAA Grant on the 29th of September.
The first round of grants were handed out last week, with recipients including Body Type and Sloan Peterson.
