Open now: the Sydney record store dedicated to electronic music and vinyl DJs

Local promoters Something Else officially opened the doors to their brand new record store yesterday. Introducing Something Else Record Store.

Located in the beating heart of Newtown on King St, the new storefront will offer a curated collection of house, techno and electronica on vinyl, both brand new and second hand.

Something Else Record Store has opened in Sydney, seemingly a new mecca for the city’s burgeoning vinyl DJ scene.

The store will also be stocking a variety of audio gear, tuned to the needs of vinyl junkies. Dave Stuart and Alex Dimitröff are the pair behind the brand, two locals who have been running weekly parties since 2014.

“Something Else Records is opening a physical record store, located at 488 King St, Newtown NSW, we will be stocking the latest house, techno and varied electronica vinyl, as well as selected 2nd hand collections.”

“We will also be stocking DJ equipment such as; Allen & Heath and Numark mixers, Audio Technica and Refurbished Technics Turntables, headphones, stylus/carts, slipmats, cleaning products… basically everything a vinyl DJ could need.”

Something Else Record Store is open 11am through 5pm on Thursdays and Fridays, and 11am through 7pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Check it out at 488 King St, Sydney.
