The National announce new album I Am Easy To Find, to drop alongside a short film

The National have announced new album I Am Easy To Find, out on May 17.

To double down on the excitement they have released opening track You Had Your Soul With You featuring vocals from Gail Ann Dorsey, a longstanding member of David Bowie’s band.

The National philosophise with childhood on new album I Am Easy To Find, to be released with an accompanying short film and worldwide tour dates.

To add to the beauty, The National have made a short film for the album also titled I Am Easy To Find, which looks thought provoking and brilliant.

The 24-minute film stars Oscar winning actress Alicia Vikander, and is directed by Mike Mills, who described the concept as “playfully hostile siblings that love to steal from each other”.

The album also features various other prominent female voices such as Sharon Van Etten, Lisa Hannigan, Mina Trindle and the Brooklyn Youth Chorus.  This contrast between male and female will undoubtedly lend to the films’ themes as Matt Berninger had this to say:

“Yes there’s a lot of women singing on this, but it wasn’t because, ‘Oh let’s have more women’s voices’. It was more, let’s have more of a fabric of people’s identities. It would have been better to have more male voices but my ego couldn’t take it.”

To kick things off The National are going on a string of “unique events” in Paris, London, New York City, Los Angeles, and Toronto.

Tickets are available here, with supports like Courtney Barnett it should be quite an experience.
