The Jungle Giants and Methyl Ethel have just made AIR Awards history

For the past 12 years, the AIR Awards have celebrated the best independent music to come out of our country… and at last nights ceremony, history was made.

For the first time in the events 12 year history, a tie was had for the ‘Best Independent Album’ award, with both The Jungle Giants and Methyl Ethel receiving a nod for their 2017 releases.

The Jungle Giants and Methyl Ethel have tied for the ‘Best Independent Album’ award at last night’s AIR Awards ceremony.

Both Methyl Ethel’s Everything is Forgotten and The Jungle Giants’ Quiet Ferocity accrued the same amount of votes, meaning an award was presented to each group.

Other big winners from the night included Baker Boy, who took out the award for ‘Breakthrough Independent Artist of the Year’, and Jen Cloher who scored awards for ‘Best Independent Artist’, and ‘Best Independent Label’ for her work with Milk! Records.
