The Jesus and Mary Chain to headline Sydney’s Spectrum Now Festival

Last year marked the very first Spectrum Now Festival, taking place in The Domain in inner-city Sydney. In many ways the festival flopped, with low attendance being the main disappointment for organisers. This year, that shouldn’t be a problem, with legendary Scottish post-punk frontrunners The Jesus and Mary Chain set to headline the musical component of the festivities.

The band will be in the country playing their seminal 1985 record Psychocandy in full to celebrate it’s 30th birthday. Support will come from Seekae, Alvvays, U.S Girls and Jonathan Boulet.

The show is a part of the festival’s huge musical component which will also see big-name acts ranging from post-rock icons Godspeed You! Black Emporer to Tex-Mex legends Calexico, plus locals Birds of Tokyo and Augie March.

Spectrum Now 2016 will also feature an expansive arts and culture segment with speakers fronting different events, including Archibald-winning artist Del Kathryn Barton taking care of all things in art while Megan Washington will be talking music, and comedian Charlie Pickering takes care of talks.

The festival will run for over two weeks from the 1st to the 16th of March.
