In celebration of the 30th anniversary of their magnum opus Disintegration, new wave legends The Cure are returning Down Under for a string of shows at the Sydney Opera House as part of Vivid’s 2019 LIVE program.
The Cure previously played at Vivid in 2011 as part of their Reflections tour. The last time The Cure played in Australia was back in 2017, where they headlined the annual Splendour in the Grass. These Vivid LIVE performances are the world premieres of the 30th-anniversary Disintegration tour and the band’s only Australian shows.
New wave royalty The Cure are returning to Australian shores for the world premiere of their 30th-anniversary Disintegration tour.
Frontman Robert Smith, in a press release, revealed his excitement about the performances and spoke of his fondness of Vivid and of Australian crowds:
“Vivid LIVE is a wonderful international event… Our Reflections shows in 2011 were truly memorable experiences, and with the excitement surrounding those early album performances in mind, we are more than delighted to be announcing our return in May 2019 to present the world premiere of Disintegration – 30th Anniversary.”
Tickets to all of The Cure’s Vivid LIVE shows will be available via a ballot ticketing system to ensure the fair distribution of tickets across time zones, states and countries, and to minimise web congestion. Make sure you get in quick, though: there are thousands of people already waiting in the figurative ticket line.
