New name, new sound, new single: Telescreen shine bright on latest track Crowded

Bright, shiny and gloriously vibrant, Telescreen (formally Lucerne Cr) are charging out of the gate with latest single Crowded. As the first release since taking on their new name, the indie-pop charmers dive into the complex nature of anxiety and the importance of an understanding from the people around us.

Telescreen shift their tone with this track towards a moody, retro-inspired sound. Merging an ’80s low-fi vibe with a twist of modern pop-rock, they’re closer than ever to something truly unique on Crowded.

Romantic in melody and complex in subject matter, Crowded serves as the latest offering from Telescreen. With a new name and new sound in tow, the band prove they ain’t here to muck around.

Made up of Nic Schwarz (vocals, guitar), Dan Carolan (bass), Ali Ward (keys, vocals) and Matt Martin (drums), the group channel new wave influences in the likes of The Strokes and Joy Division.

Crowded crams a whole lot of feels into just under three and a half minutes. The chorus rings with tenderness, while still tinged by the sense of panic which permeates the track. This earnest artistry is strengthened by some spacey guitar riffs, punchy drums and sizzling bass lines.

“This is the most important song I’ve written to date, especially for myself,” Nic says of the track. “It’s a song that feels like it’s right on the edge of exploding at any moment, yet keeps itself contained and restricted.”

This new sound came to fruition from working closely with renowned Australian producer Dean Tuza (The Rubens, Stella Donnelly, MOSSY, Moody Beach). Equally exciting, both singles off the upcoming record were mixed by the four-time ARIA nominated Tony Espie, best known for his work on The AvalanchesWildflower.
