Tame Impala showcase their new single live for the first time

If this week you are suffering one of the worst bouts of FOMO of your life, it’s about to get a whole lot worse. Yes, it’s the week of Austin Psych Fest*, aka Levitation, and with it comes 3 days of gut-wrenching, sweat-inducing envy for those missing out. To make matters worse, on Saturday night Tame Impala played their new single, Eventually, live for the first time.

Never known as ones to shy away from giving new material a solid crack live, Kevin Parker announced, “We’re going to try a new song…Here’s hoping we get to the other end,” to a bulging crowd during their Saturday night headline slot at the festival.

Recently, during an interview with triple J, Parker revealed that the new tracks need plenty of work before they are 100 percent ready to be played live saying, “For us, when we try a new song, we’re just happy to get through it the whole way without something catastrophic happening, there’s so many things happening on stage, we’re a lot more technologically advanced than we used to [be]. We can’t get as drunk before gigs, anymore.” In typical Parker style, this is being extremely modest. Both Let It Happen and ‘Cause I’m a Man have been trialled on the live stage, and both have been executed with a finesse that few bands playing such technical music could pull off.
