So close yet so far: SZA and Johnny Marr were almost on the Splendour line-up

Looks like former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr and singer/songwriter SZA were contenders for the Splendour in the Grass 2018 line-up, but missed out in the end.

The iconic artists appeared on an early addition of the Splendour poster but were excluded from the official line-up announcement that dropped yesterday. The earlier poster which features the artists, was shared and subsequently deleted on Twitter by none other than The Strokes guitarist Albert Hammond Jr.

Johnny Marr splendour in the grass

Interestingly, the Hilltop Hoods appear on the offical lineup for Splendour in the Grass, but not on the poster shared by Hammond.

The blunder was not lost on Splendour organisers, who shared a statement with Music Feeds: “Fake news! We had offers out for a bunch of acts – Kanye, Beyonce, Radiohead, Bob Dylan and the ghost of Beethoven. Elon Musk would be good for the Forum too… one can only dream guys.”

While Johnny Marr last performed in Australia at Splendour in The Grass 2015, SZA was recently in the country headlining for FOMO Festival 2018.
