Surf rock isn’t running out of ideas and Morning TV is here to prove it with a glittering debut EP

Emerging from idyllic coastal NSW, Morning TV’s sound reflects a sun rising through the mist; a very earthy, environmentally friendly sound, if you will.

The band’s 5-track Golden EP is a mixture of easy going stoner rock and relaxed indie pop. The record is fresh off the press from last Friday, and garnering worthy attention

Australia is spitting out surfie rock in spades, and Morning TV’s Golden EP has proved the genre still has a fire in it’s belly.

Morning TV emit far more noise than what a 4-piece indie band should; all tracks of the new EP have a wholesome and almost euphoric feel which gives a lot of depth to the tracks even though the hazy, melodic vocals.

The band have a sound that brings to mind the likes of Zeahorse and Hockey Dad, a fun and friendly vibe that will certainly make a great sound track for a hot Aussie summer by the water.

The first single Turquoise has had airplay on Triple J and FBi, and the band are currently featured on Unearthed. Tim Fitz of Middle Kids has mixed the EP and his influence can be heard shining through on a few of the tracks.

The feel of the EP is a perfect fit for the current indie space, with an unavoidable charm that makes the listener keen for a debut album. Hopefully, we won’t be waiting too long.

Morning TV have recently signed to Habit, a perfectly suited label who have also done publicity and management for the like of The Strokes, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds and Bad//Dreems.

Newtown and Sydney’s Inner West has always provided a circuit of venues for new artists to do the rounds and make a break with an excited, eclectic audience. Fittingly, Morning TV have secured an EP launch show later this month at the Botany View Hotel in Newtown and a slot in the upcoming Volumes festival.

Sure to push the bands live music presence skywards, the shows will be two you cannot miss.

Morning TV are certainly a band to watch out, and no doubt are about to take over the indie scene with grace.
