Summer Thieves’ new video for Get Away is a free-spirited slice of alt-reggae brilliance

It was in 2014, with the release of their debut single Love Is Lost, that we were first introduced to the soulful, groove-laden sounds of New Zealand four-piece Summer Thieves. They make music that seeps into your bones. It blankets your body and forces you to groove.

Now today, with the release of their new video for Get Away, the band continue to establish themselves as purveyors of vibey, indie-reggae gems. If you’re not already across this band, you’ve been missing out.

On their new video for Get Away, New Zealand four-piece Summer Thieves present a free-spirited slice of alt-reggae brilliance.

Throughout the new single, Summer Thieves glide through of indie-rock, reggae, pop and electronica to craft a sound uniquely their own. With spirited, emotive vocal hooks and textured instrumental arrangements, Get Away feels simultaneously energetic and laid-back.

The track’s new video is the perfect visual accompaniment. With stunning videography, the new clip follows a girl on the run from the law. As this story weaves each chapter with Summer Thieves’ rich, immersive sounds, the perfect audio/visual experience is created.

Get Away is the latest in a string of great releases from the band, and judging by everything we’ve seen and heard so far, I think we can safely expect plenty more quality tunes from Summer Thieves in the near future. Here’s hoping we won’t have to wait long to hear what they deliver next.
