SUM’s new video It’s Alright To Be Me will warm your heart

Founded in 2015 by multi-instrumentalist Steve Belvilus, SUM are a seven-piece band based out of New York City. The group bring together years of musical experience to create a deeply infectious sound that’s guaranteed to make you groove.

Pronounced ‘Soom’, SUM is a latin word that means “I am” or “to be,” and it’s this philosophy of a confident sense of self that drives the band’s addictively uplifting music.

It’s Alright To Be Me, the incredibly uplifting new video from New York City outfit SUM, will both warm your heart and make you dance.

On their heartwarming new video for It’s Alright To Be Me, the outfit present an incredibly well-produced video that follows the story of a girl making her way through the schooling system.

Vocalist Patryce Williams plays the role of both the teacher and the student, who is bullied by a boy in her class. Years later, once the two are both grown up, the boy approaches the girl with a gift and an apology. If this thing doesn’t warm your heart, you may want to check your pulse.

The track itself sees SUM meld elements of jazz, soul, R&B and pop to craft a sound that belongs entirely to themselves. Not only does their music hold an important message, but it also holds the ability to make you dance. It’s a win all round.
