Streaming-resistant label Drag City just dropped a huge chunk of music on Spotify

After many years of holding out, indie label Drag City has finally added a huge chunk of its catalogue to major streaming services.

Now, music from the likes of Ty Segall, Bill Callahan, Smog and Silver Jews will stream across Spotify, TIDAL and Google Play.

The decision to move the majority of Drag City’s music to Spotify comes after the label moved a large amount of their discography to Apple Music last year.

However, while Joanna Newsom’s records are available on all the major streaming services, they are notably missing from Spotify. Newsom, one of the Chicago label’s biggest artists, has previously described the platform as “the banana of the music industry” in an interview with the Los Angeles Times.

Music from the other Drag City artists such as Bonnie “Prince” Billy and Jim O’Rourke still remain absent from all streaming services.
