Kimya Dawson is a raw, vocal storyteller who isn’t afraid to make a musical statement. Her stripped back folk style is the perfect machine for social commentary; vocals up front and simple arrangements around the back.

This September, she’s bringing her hard-fought messages to the world’s southern end with tour dates announced in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane as well as Wellington and Auckland.

Kimya Dawson

Storyteller Kimya Dawson has seven studio albums to her name, and her experience lets her walk the fine line between political commentary and a heartwarming vocal sound.

Announced today are Kimya Dawson’s second set of tour buddies. Joining her for Sydney and Melbourne club shows are Two Steps on the Water, the Aussie emotion punk trio fresh off the back of their debut LP God Forbid Anyone Look Me In The Eye. This is in addition to Clyde Petersen’s Your Heart Breaks.

Dawson’s single At The Seams is an anthem for the ongoing Black Lives Matter movement across the world, primarily focused in the United States. Captivating the social phenomenon in a dazzling, emotive fashion, this stream of consciousness track has all the heart of the past greatest, and most important, politically minded songs.
