Solange and her most recent tour has shown audiences her unconventional approach to live music, and her appreciation for art and film combined with music.

According to the university, The Harvard Foundation for Intercultural and Race Relations aims to “improve relations among racial and ethnic groups within the University and to enhance the quality of our common life.” Previous recipients include Queen Latifah and Jackie Chan.

The award will be presented on March 3rd at the University’s Cultural Rhythms Festival in and among performances by students, plus displays and marketplaces for ethnic cuisines and arts.
