Sigur Rós get their own brand of “medicated gumdrops” (*cough* weed candy)

There’s something celestially psychedelic about Sigur Rós’ music, even though you wouldn’t call them a psych band as such. Jónsi’s ethereal vocals paired with the band’s sprawling instrumentation is a hallucinatory package. So when I learned that the band were getting their own brand of weed candy, it all made sense really.

In one of the year’s better merch partnerships, “leading cannabis brand” Lord Jones teamed up with Sigur Rós to create ‘Wild Sigurberry’ gumdrops – which are infused with cannabidiol, a compound in marijuana which has proven medical effects.

Sigur Rós have teamed up with leading cannabis brand Lord Jones to create their own brand of “medicated gumdrops” (*cough* weed candy)

According to Pitchfork, the limited-edition ‘Wild Sigurberry’ CBD-infused “medicated gumdrops” are “inspired by the flavours of foraged Icelandic berries” (blackberries, strawberries, and blueberries) and will be available in five dosage options.

The drops are “handmade in small batches from five simple ingredients: natural fruit flavors, sugar, citric acid, gelatin, full-spectrum phytocannabinoid-rich CBD extract.”

You can check out the packaging below, which is wonderful in its own right.

Each portion includes nine gumdrops and a Sigur Rós crest illustrated by Andrew Rae. The ‘Wild Sigurberry’ gumdrops will be available to qualified medical marijuana patients at select California dispensaries, as well as through the company’s website for delivery (unfortunately they can’t be shipped to Australia yet).

In a statement, Lord Jones founder Robert Rosenheck said of the project, “For us, it really is a dream come true to collaborate with Sigur Rós. Their music has been more than an inspiration to us over the years.”

We reckon that sentiment could be reversed.
