Shining Bird @ The Workers Club

Shining Bird are that band with that super catchy song. You know the one. It has that synth line that goes Doop de doop, doot doo doop doo dooooo. Then there’s like some jangly panning sound effect thing, like a xylophone or something, and then a little portal opens up in your brain and you get teleported back to 1983. I daren’t link it here, lest the synth hook be stuck in your head all week.

OH WHAT THE HELL, HERE IT IS AGAIN – DISTANT DREAMING:

You know, the only way to get that Distant Dreaming synth hook out of your head is to buy tix to Shining Bird’s Melbourne show this weekend. Trust me, I’m a doctor.

Catch Shining Bird and Ernest Ellis on their adventure down to Melbourne TONIGHT (Fri 9 May) at the Workers Club, joined by wonky, washed out dream-poppers Sunbeam Sound Machine. Oh hey, that’s actually a really good lineup. Jeez, I don’t know what I expected, but I’m actually super impresed – and here I am stuck up in Sydney seeing bloody Cull again.

Shining Bird will also be touring nationally in June with NZ art-folk guitarist Tiny Ruins, who will be hopping the pond for a seven date Australian tour, Hollie Fullbrook bringing her bassist Cass Basil and drummer Alexander Freer along on the enormous world tour. Get the full dates here.
