With his unique blend of acoustic instrumentation and electronic arrangement, Setec (pronounced see-tek) looks to conjoin the organic with the electronic – evoking both feelings of nostalgia and uncertainties of what the future will hold.
Real name Josh Gibbs, Setec has been making music for years now, and has never shied away from personal issues.
“I remember sitting in a crowded food court with my vision swirling, and my heart fluttering in my chest faster than I knew it could go. That feeling of dissonance; disoriented and overwhelmed: I wanted to translate this into my music,” Gibbs says of the new album.
Album opener Wasted Parted is dark and woozy; a track that never really begins and never really ends.
To Hide In is far more punchy, though still extraordinarily dark and disorientating, while First Flutter (Interlude) is absolutely gut-wrenching.
With bright, sonically rich instrumentation, Loose Leaves will attempt to pull you out of the hole First Flutter (Interlude) puts you in.
The juxtaposition between these two tracks is one of the albums most memorable moments – showcasing diverse range of emotions the album is capable of evoking.
