See The Sex Pistols in vicious 4K thanks to a digital remaster of 1987 cult biopic Sid & Nancy

The life and times of The Sex Pistols were hard and fast, laden with drugs, drama and the decrepitude a true rockstar’s lifestyle can bring. In 1987 Alex Cox brought their story a second life in the cult biopic Sid & Nancy, chronicling the tumultuous relationship between Sex Pistols bassist Sid Vicious and his girlfriend, Nancy Spungen.

The film saw Gary Oldman and Chloe Webb take on the lovers’ roles, harnessing the energy, anarchy and explosive potency the pair and the band had as they hit the world stage. In August this year, the classic flick is getting a remaster.

Vicious in 4K: cult 1987 biopic Sid & Nancy has been masterfully restored in glorious HD for a new Criterion collection release.

The film has been restored for a new Criterion Collection release, which is out August 22. The new 4K digital restoration features an uncompressed stereo soundtrack on the Blu-ray edition.

It comes with a 1987 documentary on the film, England’s Glory, as well an infamous televised 1976 interview with the Sex Pistols and a rare telephone interview with Sid Vicious.
