Split perspectives: Scott Williams is the photographer turning Melbourne on its head

Scott Williams is a Melbourne-based photographer turning his city on its head. Employing interesting techniques in both film and digital formats, and inspired by the cinematic works of David Lynch, Michael Mann, and Martin Scorsese, Williams captures strange perspectives of the world he lives in.

Inspired by the cinematic worlds of Lynch, Mann and Scorsese, and Scott Williams is the young photographer turning Melbourne on its head.

Through his photography, Melbourne – a fairly distinguishable city – takes on a new guise, so much so that without being told where the images were shot, you wouldn’t have a clue.

Some could be Beijing, others, somewhere in India. Each image in Williams’ collection exudes a dystopian atmosphere – no doubt influenced by Lynchian worlds – that simultaneously familiar and alien.

Take a look at some of William’s works below. And check out a recent interview he did with Vice here.
