Singer-songwriter Reilly Stapleton treats us to her brand of anthemic bangers with latest single, Lost Mind. Raw, howling and retro; Lost Mind paints the picture of a star on the rise. As her third single this year, the song follows Call My Name and That One’s On Me.
With heartfelt lyricism and colourful charm, Melbourne-based Stapleton is capable of connecting with audiences across the country. Admittedly, she’s not one for opening up, rather discovering at a young age her knack for articulating thoughts through melody.

Lost Mind explores the laborious task of coping with an inner conflict, and the mask we pull on to shield those around us from our reality. Underscored by sultry synths and deep bass lines, Stapleton’s burgeoning vocals take charge alongside her lyrics.
“She angry, she’s fine, she’s sad all the time. She’s lost her goddamn fucking mind. Give her space. She’ll show you how to run this place. Don’t be upset, it’s not what you said. She’s just going through something in her head.”
Combining these tender vocal hooks and heaving instrumentation results in a glorious kind of tension on the track. We don’t always know where it’s going, but that just adds to the intrigue. The tune develops with drops of gloom pop, finding touchstones in acts such as Florence and the Machine and London Grammar.
The artist is undeterred by the vulnerable nature of songwriting, stating “honesty is very important, it builds connections and trust. I believe that empowering a truth that makes you vulnerable, will also make you strong”.
Reilly Stapleton has been gaining momentum in the local scene, gracing various gigs, venues and festivals. She first headed into the studio to start recording her delectable indie pop jams at the start of this year. And boy, are we glad she did.
