Red Hot Chili Peppers are in the final stages of producing their new album with Danger Mouse

Red Hot Chili Peppers are back after a long five years, currently in the home stretch of recording their upcoming album.

Mother's Milk

The album will be the band’s first release not produced by Rick Rubin since 1991’s Blood Sugar Sex Magik, but will be produced with Brian Burton, more commonly known as Danger Mouse.

On working with the producer, front man Anthony Kiedis explained “We had written two dozen songs before we got with him. Danger Mouse is like, ‘Let’s keep a few of those, but let’s go write all new songs in the studio.’ We’re looking at each other like, ‘Dude, we kind of already wrote the songs, bro.’ He’s like, ‘No, I like to write new ones in the studio.’ So, in honor of accommodating this new process, we wrote all new songs, and it’s a good thing we did.”

The band is currently in the studio adding the final touches to the yet to be titled album, with Kiedis saying “We’re going to back and listen to the songs, and see if we can beat them”.

The album has no specific release date at the moment, and will follow up their 2011 album release I’m With You.
