As LCD Soundsystem score their first #1 record, check out this footage from 2002 to see where it began

Listening to American Dream, the latest from eminent electro group LCD Soundsytem, was like saying hello to an old friend. Let’s face it, LCD have been around for a long time.

But believe it or not, the new LP marks the band’s first #1 album ever.

Whenever a group reaches such a blissful milestone, I always find myself looking back to where they came from. It’s rare that you get too witness a band destined for greatness in their earliest incarnation, but that’s what you’re about to see.

2002 footage of LCD Soundsystem playing to a London club proves that all along, this would be a band to score a #1 spot on the album chart.

A short video filmed at Trash in London, uploaded very recently, shows James Murphy, Nancy Whang and Phil Mossman playing Losing My Edge, the band’s debut single.

Erol Alkan, who booked the night, also had the following to say to Clash Music:

“Late in 2002, we invited LCD Soundsytem to come play our party in London on a Monday night. 1000 people turned up, it stands as one of those ‘I was there’ moments during our clubs history..”

“I’ve heard quite a few stories of people telling me about the first time they heard this (especially at Trash, it inspired one very famous musician to start his own musical project no less..), but if you were there, tell me more…”
