Prove you love music & see at least one of these 4 gigs instead of sitting on your ass

What are you planning to do this weekend? Kick back in your pad and slouch in front of the TV? Wrong! You don’t need the idiot’s lantern. What you need is some quality gigs to hit up this weekend. “But how do I find these quality gigs” you naively ask. Why, the Happy gig guide of course. If you haven’t seen it already hit that link and peruse through to find some killer live shows happening across the country. Here are 5 we prepared earlier.

4 best gigs this weekend

We’ve gone through the gig guide to pick out what are bound to be the killer 4 gigs you should see happening across the country this weekend.

Upskirts – Newtown Social Club, Friday 14 August

If this was at the Vanguard we may be talking about an entirely different show altogether. Besides doing a pretty decent schnitzel Newtown Social Club have been hosting plenty of great local bands over the last year. One such band are Sydney psych dudes Upskirts, who released a pretty solid EP Barely Moving a little while ago. Now they’re touring the country to deliver oozing guitars and Nick Stillman’s trademark swagger. This is their hometown show tonight and it’s gonna be a ripper.

Jack Carty and Jordan Millar – Milk Factory, Friday 14 August

Troubadours-in-arms Jack Carty and Jordan Millar have been traversing the country for the last week or so for their Intimate and by Request tour. These two crooners have been melting hearts on their own, but together it’s a match made in gently crooning heaven. Their tour together is wrapping up next week, so if you haven’t soaked in their luscious melodies get down to a show.

Horror My Friend – The Reverence Hotel – Friday 14 August

Adelaide rockers Horror My Friend have made their return with their new banger Stay In (somewhat ironically titled considering this article). The Three piece’s new track is as just as relentless with the riffs as ever and is only whetting our appetite for a bigger release from these guys soon. They’ve only playing a handful of shows, so be sure to check em out while you can still get up close and personal.

Gold Class – Northcote Social Club, Monday 17 August

No, Monday isn’t part of the weekend technically, but fuck it, we’re gonna make an exception here. Melbourne four-piece Gold Class have caused a bit of a ruckus in the local scene since emerging into the public realm last month seemingly form nowhere. They’ve been signed to Spunk Records and their single Life As A Gun has been getting smashed on FBi Radio. No really, we hear it at least twice a day. We’re not complaining, so if you happen to be bumming around Northcote Social on Monday why not poke your head in and see what all the fuss is about.
