PREMIERE: NÜ will have you working up a sweat on her euphoric new single Run

Auckland-based dance-pop artist has been busy as of late. When she hasn’t been writing and recording new music, her head has been stuck in the books. When NÜ, real name Nefe, finished high school in New Zealand she dived head-first into an undergraduate degree in music. Now she’s at the tail end, and she’s itching to get those creative juices flowing again.

“It’s coming to the end of my degree, and I feel like a bomb ready to go off. I want to start releasing music.”

Run, the euphoric debut track from New Zealand-based dance-pop star NÜ, will have you working up a sweat.

Nefe immigrated to New Zealand from the Isle of Man at the ripe old age of 15. Her music is heavily influenced by her childhood love of musical theatre. She’s been a performer for as long as she can remember.

With its infectious chorus and euphoric dance beat, NÜ’s debut single Run is a mature feat for a freshman to the scene. The track is proof that NÜ knows what she’s doing. Perhaps that degree had something to do with it?

Run was co-written with William Henderson, who also produced and engineered the track. The song details that feeling about wanting to better yourself in the wake up of a break-up, something many of us can resonate with.

“It’s about avoiding [an] ex-lover who wants to catch up and make amends but the girl isn’t ready. She doesn’t want him to know she is struggling without him. Instead, she wakes up every morning and exercises and works towards her goals to better herself, keeping her mind busy until she finally moves on,”

You can stream the clip below.

Now that her degree is nearly over, NÜ will have plenty more time to pump out bangers. Fans will have to wait a little while to catch her live, though. There are no shows planned soon, but watch this space. We think we’ve found a keeper in this one.
