PREMIERE: Amber, the debut video from WHAT GLOOM, is a slice of scuzzy glory

Featuring members from such local favourites as Tuppaware Party, Cubans In Whistler, and Scat Sundays, WHAT GLOOM are Sydney’s newest experimental, collaborative project.

Now, the band have dropped their brooding debut single, and oooh boy… it’s a doozy.

With their droning vocals and blistering instrumentation, WHAT GLOOM have crafted a unique sound that feels simultaneously gritty and airy. Listening to Amber feels something like what I imagine being possessed by a demon would feel like. But the cool kind of demon.

On their new video for Amber, Sydney band WHAT GLOOM navigate dark and fuzzy scenes to deliver something with unexpected clarity.

The band’s haunting new track, Amber, is a dark and scuzzy, lo-fi gutter-rock track that will captivate and shake you to your core.

The track’s accompanying grindhouse-cinema style music video is a perfect fit – a barrage of flashing, bizarre scenes that will mesmerise and disorientate you.

Amber is the first offering off WHAT GLOOM’s debut EP, which is scheduled for release later this year. Definitely keep an eye on this band… if this first single is anything to go by, we’re in for some really great things.

For now, do yourself a favour and watch the new video above.
