PREMIERE: Dive into the sprawling psych-rock sounds of TUG’s new album You’re Not Exceptional, Man

A couple of months back, when Melbourne outfit TUG dropped their single Colours Of The Season, we were immediately immersed in their sauntering psych-rock sounds.

The track was an epic, slow-burning, seven-minute sprawl of groove-laden psychedelia that we’ve spinning relentlessly ever since we first heard it. Now, with the release of their new album You’re Not Exceptional, Man, the quartet continue to develop their entrancing music.

TUG’s sprawling new album You’re Not Exceptional, Man is an epic journey of boundless psychedelia… a journey we’d happily embark on over and over again.

Made up of guitarist and vocalist Mitch Peters, guitarist Jayden Hebbard, bassist Edward Jacobs, and drummer Tim Bayne, TUG only formed in mid 2017… though that’s pretty difficult to believe, considering they play with a synergy it takes most bands years to develop.

Throughout You’re Not Exceptional, Man, the band float through a hallucinatory blend of sounds to create something that belongs entirely to themselves. With crunching guitar riffs, droning vocals, and some of the most incredible flute work we’ve come across in some time, this album is a damn journey… and one we’d happily embark on over and over again.

From the moment the album meanders into existence with the spoken-word Morning Rise, you’ll be hypnotised by TUG’s vintage psych-rock sounds.

These are still early days for TUG, but judging by this new album, I think we can safely expect plenty more quality tunes from this Melbourne band.

For now, do yourself a favour and listen to You’re Not Exceptional, Man above.
