PREMIERE: The Uplifting Bell Ends’ new single Listen is a beacon of old-world knowledge

The Uplifting Bell Ends are the humble harbingers of an old-world psych that seems to be getting lost amid cheesy throwbacks and bands that exist solely to get their photos taken.

They’re legitimately invested in their craft, without ego attached, without image concerns, and without anything but their honest love of music. Their latest single Listen is the first taste of the South Sydney quintet’s upcoming album Super Giant III, to be released via Third Eye Stimuli Records.

The Uplifting Bells Ends’ latest track Listen is a beacon of knowledge, a sonic retrospect of former battles, a caution for future choices and a reminder to respect things greater than oneself.

Listen was recorded on a Roland VS-1680 workstation in the Kareela house that lead vocalist James French’s uncle calls home. The track is rich in percussion and vocal idiosyncrasies; its Flying Nun meets 1960s garage sound sets it apart from the plethora of bands stuck in the throwback cycle.

The sonic palette is varied by soft drum taps, metallic percussive timbres and the occasional wind instrument. Listen is an exciting taste of what’s to come for the band.

The Uplifting Bell Ends Listen Launch Tour will see the band traverse the east coast countryside, playing a string of shows statewide next January and February. They’re also playing our Happy Mag Issue 10 launch in February!
