PREMIERE: The Silent Sea defy gravity on their new EP The Sky Between Us

Since forming in 2015, Perth-based five-piece The Silent Sea have formed a unique sound that will blanket your body with brilliantly layered, hallucinatory sounds.

Their name is fitting. Walking into any one of their tracks feels a lot like walking into a large body of water – it’s all consuming, and completely immersive.

You’ll be left unsure of whether gravity still exists after diving into The Silent Sea’s gloriously woozy new EP The Sky Between Us.

Made up of vocalist Tom Martin, Ben Cooper on guitar and percussion, Chris Hopa on lead guitar, Sam Harris on bass, and Brent Simons on drums and percussion, the band layer lush sounds atop one another to create a sound that belongs entirely to themselves.

On their new EP The Sky Between Us, The Silent Sea further establish their penchant for writing interesting, carefully-considered slices of indie-rock.

EP opener Replacer melds ethereal horns, woozy guitars, and airy vocals to form a fluid, free-flowing track that drips with infectious vocal hooks and catchy guitar lines.

Hold On – one of the EP’s more delicate tracks – feels as though it’s floating above your head and could shatter down upon you at any second.

As the five tracks come to a close with the slow-burning epic In The Half Light, you’re left unsure if your feet are still attached to the ground. This EP induces a wonderful feeling of floating.

Do yourself a favour and experience it for yourself. Listen to the new EP above.
