PREMIERE: Lose yourself in the sprawling sonic universe of Strange Seed’s debut EP Seasons

Since forming in 2015, Brisbane-based six-piece psych-pop collective Strange Seed have carved out an incredibly unique space for themselves in the Australian music scene. Having gigged extensively around QLD, the band have quickly developed a sound that’s not quite anything else currently making the rounds.

Now, with the release of their debut three-track EP Seasons, they continue to establish themselves as one of the most promising emerging acts in Aussie music. If you’re not yet familiar with this band, it’s definitely time you changed that.

On their debut EP Seasons, Brisbane-based six-piece Strange Seed present a sprawling collection of tracks that feel both grounded and expansive.

Throughout the new EP, Strange Seed glide through a surreal blend of psychedelia, pop, indie-rock, and folk to craft a sound uniquely their own. With woozy instrumentation and sprawling vocal melodies, they’ve developed a sound that feels simultaneously laid-back and dynamic; grounded and expansive.

Across its short three-track duration, Seasons pulls in myriad directions – it never sits in one place for too long. One moment you’ll be floating through hallucinatory psychedelia, and the next you’ll be hooked by groove-laden guitar riffs and exotic percussion.

These are still early days for this Brisbane collective, but judging by the quality of everything we’ve heard so far, I think we can safely expect plenty more quality tunes from Strange Seed.

For now, do yourself a favour and listen to the new EP above.
